EUA Campaigns & Consultations

EUA acts as an independent stakeholder for Europe’s universities. As a non-governmental membership organisation EUA brings together empirical evidence and examples of good practice gathered from across the broad range of universities’ missions and activities to inform and to shape the policy making process. EUA’s role as a collective stakeholder involves:

  • representing universities’ interests through policy monitoring and analysis subsequently used to influence political processes and decisions at European level;
  • influencing public and governmental decisions through action at European level.

To collect evidence, take account of the diversity across Europe and develop a comprehensive view of the university sector, EUA regularly consults its members through

its statutory bodies as well as through broad membership consultations in form of questionnaires. The results are then fed into the relevant decision making processes at European level where EUA represents the interests of universities.

EUA uses a variety of communication tools to shape decision making processes. These include press work, a bi-weekly newsletter, social media, events, projects, publications, the website, direct contact with decision makers through formal and informal contacts and public campaigns.
