EUA Webinar: “Refugees welcome map”

Access and integration of refugee students in European higher education

EUA’s Refugees Welcome Map documents the commitment of higher education institutions and related organisations in supporting refugee students, researchers and academic staff. The webinar will discuss initial findings of the campaign, and will feature initiatives and practices from some of the contributing institutions.

23 March 2016

  • A large number of higher education institutions, related organisations and networks are committed to welcoming refugee students and researchers in their respective countries and education systems. EUA’s interactive Refugees Welcome Map showcases their initiatives and activities in response to the refugee crisis. Up to date, more than 150 institutions from 28 countries have put their diverse initiatives on the map. They include the provision of aid and shelter, language courses, integration activities and the recognition of degrees held by refugees.

EUA’s webinar on 23 March 2015 at 14.00 CET will feature participants of the Refugees Welcome Map campaign from Austria, Belgium and Turkey. In light of challenges and opportunities for integration, the participants will present their activities, which among other issues of concern aim to facilitate access to higher education for refugee students. The interactive webinar will include opportunities for Q&A and feedback from the audience.
