Building Productive Relationships in a New Stakeholder Environment

Vienna, 04-05 December 2008

The European University Association and its partners, HUMANE and the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education (LFHE) are pleased to introduce a new series of strategy workshops designed for leaders and managers of European universities: “Building Productive Relationships in a New Stakeholder Environment”.

Based on this central theme,  the four-workshop series will successively tackle key themes such as internationalisation, regional relationships with business and communities, the new relationship with public authorities and the changing role of students.

What participants can expect…

This is a high-level development opportunity specifically designed for those working at the most senior levels of higher education in Europe, such as Rectors, Vice-Chancellors and Heads of Administration. Interactive and informative - with input from high profile experts, professional facilitators and senior leaders and managers- the sessions will be carried out in small groups, to enable participants to address their own priorities and ‘work in progress’ on key strategic agendas for European universities.

The workshop series will open on 4-5 December 2008 with an event exploring the theme “Positioning your University in the Wider World” (at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna). This will give university leaders the opportunity to analyse, develop and improve their approaches to international strategy development and implementation.

What the partners bring…

The workshops have been designed by three organisations with a unique expertise in bringing together policy analysis, strategic advice, leadership and management development, research, and practical experience of higher education within and beyond Europe.

What will follow?

After the Vienna workshop, the series will continue in Venice in May 2009 around the theme “Regional relationships with business and communities” and in Valencia in October 2009 around the theme  “New relationships with public authorities”.
