It has several faculties including pharmacy, medicine, odontology and health care sciences, arts and humanities, social sciences, education, information technology and business, economics and law.

The University of Gothenburg is an active international university engaged in collaborative projects and partnerships all over the world. The university has 900 exchange agreements and welcomes over

2 500 international students from all over the world.
There are around 30 centres of expertise and research at the University of Gothenburg. A centre of expertise and research serves as a meeting point for students and researchers as well as representatives from the commercial, industrial and public sectors. Centres of expertise and research are cross-disciplinary and may include several academic subjects, faculty areas and higher education institutions. The purpose of these centres is to manage areas and topics of interest that by nature span several academic disciplines.
