Getting to Gothenburg

Arriving by plane

Gothenburg is easily accessible from around the world. The city has two international airports: Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) and Göteborg City Airport (GSE) and is just two hours away from London, Paris and Vienna. Transport from the airport to Gothenburg city centre is provided by either public airport shuttle or taxi.

Airport shuttle bus

The airport shuttle bus runs every 15-20 minutes from Göteborg Landvetter Airport (GOT) and takes about 20 minutes to the city centre. A standard single ticket costs 89.00 SEK (10.24 EUR).

The airport bus schedule from Göteborg City Airport is adapted to incoming flights. Buses depart from just outside the terminal and takes approximately 30 minutes to the city centre. A standard single ticket costs 69.00 SEK (7.94 EUR).

Information about stops, timetables, prices and where you can purchase tickets can be found on the Flygbussarna website.

Taxi service at the airport

A taxi ride to the venue takes about 15-20 minutes from Göteborg Landvetter Airport and about 20-25 minutes from Göteborg City Airport (GSE).

Arriving by train

The main train station is Gothenburg Central Train Station. It is located right in the city centre and has several departures every day to Stockholm, Copenhagen and Oslo where connecting trains from other major European cities are available.

General transportation information

Public transportation

Gothenburg has an efficient public transport system which makes it a city easy to move around in by bus, tram, ferry or train. During rush hour, trams and buses leave every 5-10 minutes. Frequency during office hours is every 10-20 minutes. You can purchase tickets/travel cards at centrally located ticket offices or on the public transportation company’s website ("Vasttrafik").

If you arrive at the central train station (by train or airport shuttle bus) you will find a ticket office both inside, and in the square outside the train station.

Trams 2, 3 and 7 depart from the square in front of the central train station and stop near the venue where registration, the Opening and Plenary I are held the first day (get off at the stop named “Vasaplatsen”).

Tram 2 departs from the square in front of the central train station and stops right behind the venue at the tram stop “Handelshögskolan” (School of Business, Economics and Law).

From Elite Park Avenue Hotel, the easiest way to reach “Handelshögskolan” is either by taking tram 3 at stop Valand (towards “Marklandsgatan”, getting off at “Hagakyrkan”).

Tickets

Tickets can be purchased on the tram with coins or by card (Visa and MasterCard). On buses there are no vending machines and the driver does not sell tickets.

An easier option is to purchase any of the tourist or visitor cards. Read more about it here: www.vasttrafik.se

Taxi services in the city centre

Taxi stands are located at major intersections in front of most big hotels. The starting fare is usually around 5 EUR, to which you have to add about 1.50-2.20 EUR/km. Please note that both starting fare and price/km increase at night and on weekends. Taxi operators set their own prices so in order to avoid any misunderstanding, make sure the approximate cost of the full trip is known in advance.
