15 December 2006

< >

On 15 and 16 February 2007 the European Commission will host a conference in Brussels on scientific publication issues. The goal of the conference is to bring together stakeholders concerned with access, dissemination and preservation issues in connection with scientific publication and data in an effort to provide policy options for scientific publishing under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and in the European Research Area. Both the European Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Potočnik and the European Commissioner for Information Society and Media, Viviane Reding will be speaking at the event. Discussions will address issues raised by the recent EU study on the economic and technical evolution of the scientific publication markets in Europe. Members of the research and academic communities from throughout Europe as well as representatives of European academic organisations are encouraged to attend the Conference as the debates will influence future EU policy. More information, including a programme and registration form, is available on the European Commission website (see direct link below).
