Registrations open for the EUA-CDE workshop

05 November 2015

The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (CDE) has opened registrations for its 9th thematic workshop on “Doctoral Supervision – practices and responsibilities”. The workshop will be held at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, on 20-21 January 2016, and will address the supervisor-supervisee relationship, institutional practices and how to engage with supervisors.

EUA_CDESupervision is a central and defining element of doctoral education. It is through supervised research that doctoral candidates develop a research mindset, and it is the supervisor-supervisee relationship that determines the experience of undertaking a doctorate. With professional management of doctoral education, supervision has become far more than an apprenticeship for research, and supervisors have more responsibilities than previously. It is time to reflect on the nature of doctoral supervision, considering the main tasks of the supervisors and how these can be supported by institutions.

The annual thematic workshops organised by the EUA Council for Doctoral Education are open exclusively to EUA-CDE members.

The registration deadline is 11 January 2016. For more information on the event and on how to register, please click here.
