Save the date – 1st UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event

05 November 2015

EUA is organising the first UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event "Addressing the human resource challenge to build the future energy system". The event will take place on 24-26 February 2016 and will be hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.

The first UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event (ECE) at NTNU in Trondheim will offer insights into innovative programmes and approaches from a multidisciplinary perspective through examples, lessons learned and other best practice. Conference participants will also be invited to contribute to the development of a roadmap and ultimately a strategic agenda for universities as important stakeholders in the future low-carbon energy society. The overall goal is to strengthen inter-university cooperation and thus the voice of universities in the development of energy policy at EU level.

As part of the programme, universities that have completed the UNI-SET Universities Survey by 30 November and feature on the Atlas of Universities in Energy Research & Education will have the opportunity to voice their views on the challenges facing them in delivering excellent research outputs and educational programmes.

The event is the first in a series of five UNI-SET ECEs which will take place in 2016 and 2017 to discuss and stimulate the development of innovative research and education programmes in the energy field. The five events seek to mobilise the European university community to tackle the “energy challenge” by fostering exchange and collaboration between researchers, educators and other stakeholders. The events will also explore how universities can enhance their contribution to the current EU energy policies, framed by the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) and the European Energy Union. The UNI-SET ECEs are organised in the framework of the UNI-SET project, funded by FP7, which aims at mobilising universities in the energy sector.

Please find more information on the event webpage. Registration for the event will be free of charge and will open at the end of November.

UNI-SET is led by EUA in cooperation with KU Leuven representing the universities in KIC InnoEnergy. It has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 609838.
