Policy Seminar on “The international refugee crisis. What role for European higher education?”, 10 December 2015, Brussels (Belgium)

19 November 2015

On 10 December 2015, the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) is organising a European Policy Seminar on the international refugee crisis. The event will bring together relevant stakeholders to address this pertinent question from different perspectives and to explore the best ways to support refugee students and academics from Europe and the Middle East.

Speakers representing the European Commission, national agencies, universities and NGOs in Europe will share their experiences in addressing the crisis together with the results of related mapping surveys at different levels.

EUA will be present at the event and will provide an overview of the initiatives and actions undertaken by universities to support the refugees. EUA recently issued a statement on the refugee crisis calling on the EU and EU member states to demonstrate leadership and accept responsibility for managing the ongoing refugee crisis, and has also launched the ‘European Universities for an Open World’ campaign to defend the basic university values of openness, tolerance and diversity.
