EUA Annual Conference 2017: Programme now online
02 December 2016
The preliminary programme for the EUA Annual Conference is now available. Under the title, “Autonomy and freedom: The future sustainability of universities,” the Annual Conference will take place at the University of Bergen in Norway on 6 and 7 April 2017.
The Annual Conference will focus on university autonomy and academic freedom in a European context marked by political, economic and societal challenges. The discussions will be supported by EUA’s soon-to-be-updated Autonomy Scorecard. Five years after its first release, the Scorecard will give an overview of the latest trends, pointing to areas of progress and tension.
The special “Hot Topic” session will focus on the experiences of universities in welcoming refugee students and researchers. In response to the refugee crisis, European universities have launched hundreds of initiatives in order to assist and integrate refugees. University leaders will be invited to the Annual Conference to discuss their institutions’ efforts in this area. This “Hot Topic” is closely linked to EUA’s Refugees Welcome Map, which showcases the extensive work being done by the university community to aid students and scholars who have been displaced during the refugee crisis.
EUA members are also encouraged to attend the EUA General Assembly prior to the main conference, during which three new Board members will be elected.
