On 22 February 2017, the four new EUA thematic peer groups on learning and teaching in European universities launched their work with a meeting among the group coordinators. Held in Brussels, the kick-off session focused on defining the aims and tasks of the different groups.
They will work individually on four themes:
- Building a link between the research and teaching missions of the university;
- Empowering students for their future professional life and civic engagement;
- Addressing larger and more diverse student bodies to ensure student success;
- Fostering engagement in developing learning and teaching.
EUA organised the thematic peer groups as part of the EUA Learning & Teaching Initiative
. Each group consists of representatives from eight or nine EUA member universities that vary in geographical location and institutional profile.
The thematic peer groups will meet three times and through their work EUA aims to identify core principles for successful learning and teaching across Europe by taking into account the changing higher education environment. The outcomes will feed into the parallel sessions of the 1st European Learning & Teaching Forum
, which will be organised on 28 and 29 September 2017 in Paris in collaboration with the Conférence des présidents d’université
