09 March 2017

The deadline to participate in EUA’s 2017 Annual Conference on “Autonomy and freedom: The future sustainability of universities” is fast-approaching, with registration closing on 20 March. Hosted by the University of Bergen in Norway, the conference will take place on 6 and 7 April 2017.

Bergen-Harbour-at-sunset (Copyright Bergen Reiselivslag Willy Haraldsen - 2017 Annual Conference will feature the launch of a full-scale update of the Autonomy Scorecard, which will provide the backdrop for a discussion on the latest trends, challenges and future of autonomy and academic freedom in Europe. Five years after its original launch, the Scorecard will show how the relationship between the sector and the state has evolved across Europe, highlighting trends and challenges.

The parallel sessions on four dimensions of autonomy (organisational, financial, staffing and academic) will allow participants to share their experiences and listen to case studies that will be given by university rectors and presidents from different European countries. More information about the speakers, including their biographies, is available online.

Further information about the event, its programme and how to register can be found on the event webpage. Follow the Annual Conference on Twitter under #EUA2017Bergen.
