c_grand-place-ulb47fd67ca84b96a879ce5ff00009465c7The conference will showcase the contribution and mobilisation of universities through the European Platform of Universities in Energy Research and Education (EUA-EPUE) and the UNI-SET project towards the goals of the Energy Union and the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan). Participants will discuss how the momentum could be enhanced in the following years, following the publication of the European Atlas for Universities in Energy and the Roadmap for European Universities in Energy.

The event organisers will present recommendations for universities, policymakers and companies for the identification of new paradigms in energy education and research. These recommendations are a result of extensive work with more than 200 universities and 100 companies to address the skills and competences needed for the energy transition in higher education, in line with the developments of the business sector.

The conference is timely and will mark an occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the SET Plan, and debate how the future European Framework Programme (FP9) can support the linkage of research, innovation and education objectives in the field of energy.

Speakers at the event include high level academics, representatives from industry and the European Commission. Confirmed speakers are Professor Rolf Tarrach, President of EUA; Mr Nils Røkke, Chair of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA); Professor Mary Ritter, former CEO of Climate-KIC and many others.

The event takes place back to back with the Horizon 2020 Energy Info Days in Brussels, where the new Horizon 2020 Work Programme for 2018-2020 will be presented.
