EUA supports the Lifelong Learning Platform’s Erasmusx10 Campaign

23 November 2017

The Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP), together with the European Youth Forum (YFJ) and Eurodesk, launched a campaign in September calling for a 10-fold increase to the budget of Erasmus+. EUA agrees there is a need for a more ambitious Erasmus+ programme.

The initiative responds to a speech by President Juncker, who stated "Every euro that we invest in Erasmus+ is an investment in the future(...). As we celebrate the 9 millionth person to take part, let's make sure we are 9 times more ambitious with the future of the Erasmus+ programme." The recently launched EU Communication “Strengthening European Identity through Education and Culture”, which puts education at the heart of a more social Europe, underlines the intention of the European Commission to increase the investment.

Erasmusx10 is based on the rationale “10 reasons why 10 times more”, which includes the need to widen participation among under-represented groups, promote active citizenship and make education and lifelong learning truly international. This rationale also reflects the findings and recommendations of EUA’s Membership Consultation – a Contribution to the Erasmus+ Mid-term Review.

You will find more information about the campaign Erasmusx10 on the dedicated website. In addition, the LLLP has launched an online petition which we invite you to sign.

You can also use the logo of the campaign for your own dissemination activities.
