    Since its launch in December 2015, EUA’s Refugees Welcome Map Campaign has collected almost 250 initiatives from higher education institutions and related organisations in 31 countries. After one year of success, EUA is pleased to announce that it has recently updated the Map with the support of the inHERE project (Higher Education Supporting Refugees in Europe).


    Does higher education teaching pay sufficient attention to citizenship and social inclusion? And, what exactly are the challenges that academics and students face in addressing these topics? This was the theme of the first public event of the “European Forum for Enhanced Collaboration in Teaching” (EFFECT) project, which took place at the University of Porto on 31 January 2017.


    EUA is deeply concerned by the executive order issued by US President Donald Trump and its immediate and unnecessary consequences on international researchers, university faculty and students.


    The presidents of 33 national rectors’ conferences met at the EUA Council for a policy dialogue with European Commissioner Carlos Moedas, President Markku Markkula of the Committee of the Regions, and Luke Georghiou, Vice-President for research at the University of Manchester and member of RISE (the Research, Innovation and Science Policy Experts High-Level Group of the European Commission). The meeting took place in Brussels on 27 January 2017.


    At the EUA Council meeting on 27 January 2017 in Brussels, the Association will hold a special policy dialogue on the future of Horizon 2020 and the next EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9). Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, will participate in the discussion, along with other key voices.
