    EUA has a number of events planned over the next months. Further details of events that EUA is organising/co-organising are available through the EUA newsletter and/or website, but please find below a list of dates already confirmed.

    On 11 November, the EU Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the EU budget for 2014. Meanwhile, the European Commission has released the latest edition of the Education and Training Monitor which looks at progress on the education and training 2020 benchmarks and core indicators. It has also announced that it has appointed 15 groups of independent experts to advise on priorities for Horizon 2020, the future EU research and innovation programme for 2014-2020.

    On 16 October, two members of the European Parliament, Amalia Sartori, Chair of the ITRE Committee and Luigi Berlinguer (Former Italian Minister for Research), presented a Manifesto entitled “European Research Area. A Maastricht for Research” to a number of stakeholders including EUA at a launch event at the European Parliament in Brussels.

    On the occasion of the recent EUA Council meeting on 25 October held in Vilnius, EUA welcomed six universities as individual full members, one as an associate member, and one organisation as an affiliate.

    EUA, in cooperation with the Academic Cooperation Association (ACA) is pleased to announce a new project: Mobility Policy-Practice Connect (MPPC). A follow-up of the MAUNIMO project (Mapping University Mobility of Students and Staff – 2010-2012), MPPC will help to build capacity at system and institutional level to create and implement comprehensive mobility strategies.

    Two dissemination workshops have recently taken place in San José, Costa Rica (16-17 0ctober), and Bogota, Colombia (23-24 October), regarding the outcomes of the ALFA PUENTES project, a three-year bi-regional cooperation project coordinated by EUA and involving 23 university associations from Latin America and Europe.
