EUA recently launched its annual Public Funding Observatory, which is composed of an overview report and an updated online tool. This year’s edition records worrying signals from Northern Europe, a region that has so far kept up investments in higher education and research. Concerns particularly relate to Denmark and Finland, where new governments have embarked on cost-cutting programmes for the sector.

As from November 2015 EUA will participate in three new projects funded under the European Commission’s Erasmus+ programme.

The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (CDE) has opened registrations for its 9th thematic workshop on “Doctoral Supervision – practices and responsibilities”. The workshop will be held at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands, on 20-21 January 2016, and will address the supervisor-supervisee relationship, institutional practices and how to engage with supervisors.

EUA is organising the first UNI-SET Energy Clustering Event "Addressing the human resource challenge to build the future energy system". The event will take place on 24-26 February 2016 and will be hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.

EUA’s Annual Conference 2016 on the theme “Bricks and clicks for Europe: building a successful digital campus” will take place on 7-8 April 2016 at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG). In the framework of the conference, EUA has launched a Call for Presentations for three Working Group sessions.

EUA supports the European Commission’s “Science4Refugees” initiative to help refugee scientists and researchers find suitable jobs.
