    Refugee students welcome

EUA calls upon policy makers and higher education institutions in Europe to enable refugee students to gain access to higher education. During its last meeting on 23 October in Brussels, the EUA Council adopted a statement on refugee students and academics.

The EUA Council discussed the topic of rare and emerging disciplines in Europe at its meeting in October. Council members considered how threatened disciplines can best be preserved and maintained, in view of the fact that they are both crucial for scientific development and often of major importance for Europe’s cultural heritage.

EUA has launched a series of interviews “University Leaders’ Perspectives: Governance and Funding”, which is a new style that gives university leaders the opportunity to express their views on current issues in the field. With this series of interviews, EUA follows up on the 2nd Funding Forum held one year ago in Bergamo, Italy.

EUA presents the first European Atlas of Universities in Energy Research & Education, a compendium of European university-based Master, Doctorate and Research Programmes. The Atlas has been developed by the EUA energy platform, the “European Platform of Universities in Energy Research & Education” (EUA-EPUE). The aim of this platform is to support universities by addressing “grand challenges” in the energy field, in particular the transition towards a low-carbon society.
