    Registration is still open for the 9th European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF), entitled “Changing education – QA and the shift from teaching to learning”, that will take place from 13 to 15 November 2014 at the University of Barcelona in Spain.

    The President-elect of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has recently unveiled plans for the shape of the next European Commission and notably the portfolios of the Commissioners that have been nominated to begin later this year. The Italian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which began in July, has been outlining its priorities for the next months to the different committees of the European Parliament.

    In July, the Council of the EU’s Permanent Representatives Committee agreed its position on the EU draft budget for 2015, which is set to be negotiated in the next months with the other EU institutions (European Commission and Parliament).

    EUA monitors European-level developments at the interface of the Bologna Process and the EU Directive on the recognition of professional qualifications.

    As part of its policy monitoring activities, EUA is also following closely developments in ongoing trade talks, notably those currently being conducted by the EU and the US, and their potential impact for European universities.

    The 2nd EUA Funding Forum will take place at the University of Bergamo in Italy from 9 to 10 October 2014. Registration for the event is open until 21 September. This year’s Forum focuses on designing strategies for efficient and sustainable funding of higher education in Europe and will be attended by delegates from over 35 countries.
