    Current discussions on learning and teaching innovation often refer to learning analytics as a game-changer in the field, as methods of online student data analysis hold great potential in addressing challenges faced by European higher education institutions.


    The UNI-SET consortium has extended the deadline for the call for contributions for the 3rd Energy Clustering Event, “Universities in the Energy Transition: Focus on Smart Energy Systems and Communities.” Submissions will now be accepted until 28 October 2016.


    Time is running out to register for the 11th European Quality Assurance Forum (EQAF). This year, the Forum will take place from 17 to 19 November 2016 in Ljubljana, Slovenia and the last day to register is 31 October.


    The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) is pleased to announce its 10th thematic workshop. Entitled “Ethics and integrity in doctoral education and research training,” the event will be hosted by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal on 18 and 19 January 2017. For the occasion, EUA has launched a call for presentations linked to the workshop theme that will be given in parallel paper sessions during the first day of the event.


    On 11 October 2016, government officials in the UK announced that EU students applying for entrance into an English higher education institution for the 2017-2018 academic year will continue to be eligible for student loans and grants for the duration of their degree course.


    The 3rd EUA Funding Forum, “Efficient universities: Value for Society”, took place at the University of Porto in Portugal on 6 and 7 October 2016. At the event, EUA brought together stakeholders from 35 countries, including university leaders and national and European policy makers to explore and discuss the sector’s latest funding trends, opportunities and challenges.
