EUA ‘TRENDS 2015’ project to map key HE developments in Europe

The European University Association is launching the 7th in the series of its flagship TRENDS projects, which undertake a detailed analysis and mapping of developments in Europe's changing higher education landscape.

 

EUA has been conducting the TRENDS projects, and the resulting reports published since 1999, with a view to feeding an institutional perspective into European higher education policy discussions, and improving exchange and networking among and support for European universities. Over time, EUA’s TRENDS reports have become crucial sources of information and reference works for policy makers and the higher education community alike.

IEP launches coordinated evaluations in Montenegro

The Ministry of Education in Montenegro has commissioned EUA’s Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) to carry out coordinated evaluations of higher education institutions during 2013-2014. These evaluations are funded by a broader World Bank supported project entitled “Higher Education and Research for Innovation and Competitiveness” (HERIC), with the overall objective to strengthen the quality and relevance of higher education and research in Montenegro.

Workshop fosters discussions on university governance and funding reforms in Ukraine

Last week the second country workshop in the framework of the ATHENA project on fostering sustainable and autonomous higher education systems in the Eastern Neighbouring Area of the EU took place in Kiev, Ukraine.

EUA participates in first international meeting of HE research centres

Last week, EUA Secretary General, Lesley Wilson, participated in the first roundtable meeting of directors of higher education centres and programmes in Shanghai, which considered “the role of higher education research and training centres in today’s complex tertiary education environment”.

Brussels in Brief: EU developments in education and research

On 11 November, the EU Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the EU budget for 2014. Meanwhile, the European Commission has released the latest edition of the Education and Training Monitor which looks at progress on the education and training 2020 benchmarks and core indicators. It has also announced that it has appointed 15 groups of independent experts to advise on priorities for Horizon 2020, the future EU research and innovation programme for 2014-2020.
