Launch of the UNI-SET Universities Survey on energy research and education

uniset logo

As part of its energy-focused project ‘UNI-SET’, EUA has launched a survey to identify and gather information on university research and education programmes at Master and Doctorate level in the field of energy.

The survey, which was launched this week and will be open until 30 June 2015, calls for energy-related programmes covering the entire spectrum of academic fields – from the ‘hard’ sciences to social sciences, arts and humanities – whose graduates and researchers can help move towards a low-carbon society  based on the skills and competences acquired through their studies and other university activities.

The results of the survey will be used to develop free online, interactive, thematic maps providing an overview of the European university landscape in the energy field. The analysis of data will also provide the knowledge to identify multidisciplinary educational and research gaps and opportunities. EUA will pursue this in a joint effort with its universities, structuring the information according to the areas identified in the SET-Plan Integrated Roadmap and internationally agreed classifications on education and training (ISCED) and research (UNESCO).

EUA is encouraging its members and partners to participate in the survey not only to increase the visibility of their activities but also to identify partners to create new research collaborations and strengthen the voice of Europe’s universities by contributing to European policy in the field. The UNI-SET project is therefore of strategic relevance for the university sector.

Details on how to participate in the survey can be found at http://universities.uni-set.eu. For further information, please contact the UNI-SET project team at uni-set@eua.be. We look forward to your university’s collaboration with EUA in this important task of mapping universities’ activities in the priority field of energy research and education and creating an open cooperation platform.

UNI-SET is led by EUA in cooperation with KU Leuven representing the universities in KIC InnoEnergy. It has received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement no. 609838.
