Prof. António CunhaProfessor António M. Cunha is the President of the Portuguese Rectors’ Conference and the Rector of the University of Minho, Portugal.

He graduated in Industrial Engineering in 1984 and holds a PhD in Polymer Engineering. As Full Professor of the Polymer Engineering Department of the University of Minho, he also conducts research at the Institute for Polymers and Composites (IPC) – I3N Associate Laboratory. In this context, he has developed several projects under national and European programmes in the fields of structure development in polymer processing, non-conventional moulding techniques and tools as well as natural polymers.

Previously, he was the Dean of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (2005-2009), member of the Executive Board of the Engineering and Innovation Centre for Automotive Industry (CEIIA, 2005-2009) as well as of Innovation in Polymer Engineering (PIEP, 2001-2009). Professor António M. Cunha is also the Chairman of Instituto Internacional Casa de Mateus and of the CEER Foundation (consortium of universities from the Galician-Northern Portugal region).
