Prof. Katarzyna Chalasinska-MacukowProfessor Katarzyna Chalasinska-Macukow studied physics at the University of Warsaw and received a Master of Science in 1970, and a PhD in 1979. In 1988, she obtained veniam legendi in physics (optics). Presently, she is Full Professor of Physics (optics) at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw.

Professor Chalasinska-Macukow was Dean of the Faculty of Physics (1996-2002), Deputy-Rector (2002-2005), and Rector of the University of Warsaw (2005-2012). In 2008, she was elected President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP), and is now Honorary President.

Her research field includes optical information processing and photonics. She is a member of several professional societies. In 2014, she was elected President of the Polish Physical Society.
