Prof. Lokesh JoshiProfessor Lokesh Joshi is the Vice President for Research at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Professor Joshi’s personal research focuses on the role of complex sugars in health and diseases. He was recruited to Ireland as the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Stokes Professor of Glycosciences. He is the Director of the Glycosciences Research group at the National University of Ireland, Galway and is a co-investigator in CÚRAM, the SFI-funded national medical devices research centre. Previously, Professor Joshi was an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and Director of the Center for Glycoscience and Technologies in the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University (ASU). He completed postdoctoral and research associate training at Boyce Thompson Institute and Cornell University and received a PhD from Bath University.

Professor Joshi has published more than one hundred articles and has been an active scientist-entrepreneur. He was co-founder of Arizona Engineered Therapeutics. In Ireland he co-founded a Biotech company, Aquila Bioscience, focusing on healthcare solutions.
